Eligibility
Nurses and midwives who have completed their training outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and wish to practise as a nurse or midwife in the United Kingdom must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). In order to be registered, applicants must pass a two-part competency test.
• You must pass the academic version of the IELTS test with a score of at least 7.0 in each of the hearing, reading, writing, and speaking portions, as well as a score of at least 7.0 (out of a possible 9) overall.
• Part one is a computer-based multiple-choice exam that applicants can take in their home countries.
• Part two is an OSCE (observed structured clinical examination) that will always take place in the United Kingdom.
Employers and international nurse applicants must follow certain rules.
• To sit for the OSCE and complete their registration, all overseas applicants must pass a computer-based test and meet all other initial requirements of the NMC overseas nursing process.

• Before applying for a certificate of sponsorship, employers must ensure that:

In any applications for restricted sponsorship certificates, you must submit proof of the foregoing.
• To prove the individual passed the computer-based test, you must give a copy of the employment offer letter as well as a copy.
• In certain cases, the standard Tier 2minimum wage requirement of £20,800 is temporarily waived, while employers are still urged to place nurses in temporary positions that pay at least as much as a Band 3 function.
• If a person fails the OSCE on their first attempt, they must schedule a retake within eight months of their visa’s commencement date.
• Candidates will have more time to address their growth requirements and prepare adequately for any re-sit.
• Employers must pledge to continuing employment of the individual as a registered nurse at a salary of at least £23,000 PER ANNUM following successful completion of the OSCE and awarding of NMC registration.
